Power Tank: The Fastest Way to Air Up on the Trail
When it comes to overlanding, airing down your tires is a must for better traction and a smoother ride. But the real challenge comes when it’s time to air back up. After testing different air-up solutions, we found that the Power Tank 15 lb CO2 System was a game-changer for us.
Why We Chose Power Tank
We used to rely on our Power Tank for almost every outing, and for good reason—it’s ridiculously fast. Unlike traditional air compressors, which can take several minutes per tire, the Power Tank allows us to air up from 15 PSI to 40 PSI in seconds. This is a big deal for us because we’d rather be shooting content than standing around waiting for our tires to fill.
Our Experience on the Trail
Our primary use for the Power Tank has been airing up tires, but we’ve also used it to blow off dust and clean camera gear. We haven’t had to reseat a bead yet, but knowing that we have that capability gives us peace of mind. One of the things we loved most about this system was its mobility—we could easily move it between vehicles or help others air up on group runs.
We also tested it with the Morrflate Quad System, which allowed us to air up all four tires simultaneously. The combination worked well and saved us even more time, making it a great setup for those who want a seamless process.
Storage and Setup
We mounted our Power Tank on our rear cargo shelf, keeping it secure but easily accessible when needed. We also upgraded to the XP400 regulator with the Super Coupler hose coupler, which made connections even faster and more convenient.
A Small Drawback
While we loved the Power Tank, one of the downsides we encountered was the need to refill CO2 after every couple of trips. Since it’s not as easy as a traditional air compressor, this became a small inconvenience for us. However, for those who prioritize speed over convenience, this trade-off might be worth it.
Is Power Tank Right for You?
If you’re looking for the fastest way to air up your tires, Power Tank is hands-down the best solution. It’s ideal for those who want to spend less time messing with air-up times and more time enjoying the trail.
